Seasonal Guide to Visiting Slovenia: When to Explore Lake Bled and Beyond

Slovenia is a year-round destination full of natural beauty and outdoor excitement. Whether you're into scenic landscapes or heart-pounding adventures, each season offers something special—especially in and around Lake Bled, home of Adventure Rafting Bled.

Spring (March – May): Snowmelt & Fresh Adventures

Spring marks the awakening of nature, and it’s one of the best times for rafting thanks to the strong flow of the Sava Bohinjka River. At Adventure Rafting Bled, we kick off the season with thrilling whitewater rafting tours that take full advantage of the snowmelt-fed waters—perfect for adventure seekers looking for an adrenaline rush.

Beyond rafting, Lake Bled's hiking and biking trails begin to open, and the Vintgar Gorge becomes accessible in April.

Local Tip: Combine a morning rafting trip with an afternoon exploring the lakeside trail that covers the entire Lake Bled.

Summer (June – August): Peak Season for Rafting & Canyoning

Summer is when Slovenia bursts to life, and so do our most popular tours. The Sava Dolinka River offers ideal rafting conditions—more relaxed than spring rafting, so it's perfect for families and beginners, but still filled with the perfect blend of excitement and stunning scenery.

This is also prime canyoning season, and our guided tours through hidden gorges near Bled are an unforgettable way to experience Slovenia’s wild side—jumping into crystal pools, rappelling down waterfalls, and sliding through narrow rock formations.

Don’t Miss: Bled Days & Bled Night in July, when thousands of floating candles light up the lake.

Autumn (September – November): Golden Landscapes & Last Adventures

Autumn wraps Slovenia in a vibrant mix of red, orange, and gold. The tourist crowds thin out, but the adventure continues. Canyoning tours run through early October with comfortable water temperatures and rich forest colors adding to the experience.

It’s also a quieter time for scenic walks, wine tasting, and exploring the beauty of Lake Bled in peace.

Event Highlight: The Cow Ball in Bohinj in September—a traditional alpine festival just a short drive from Bled.

Winter (December – February): A Snowy Fairytale

Lake Bled transforms into a winter wonderland. While our adventure tours pause for the cold season, winter brings its own charm with festive lights, cozy cafés, and nearby ski resorts like Vogel.
